Manjimup Exhibition & Opening
Art and Photographic Exhibition open: Monday 16th July-Thurs 30th August 2018
At the Manjimup Art Gallery, next to the Manjimup Library, Rose Street. Manjimup ( open 9.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday, 9-12 Saturday morning)
Art Exhibition Opening Event: 4 pm Monday 16th July 2018
This exhibition opening will include a Welcome to Country by Phyllis Karakoutis, Chairperson of the Walgenup Aboriginal Corporation and talk by Noongar Elder and artist, Sandra Hill. This event will include presentations by Keith Bradby of Gondwana Link, Basil Schur of Green Skills, and other local community & landcare representatives. It is planned to show a short film about the Lake Muir-Unicup wetlands, which form part of the Gondwana Link and Southern Forests.
The principal artists represented in the exhibition include Joey Williams, Audrey and Errol Eades, Lynne and Ken Tinley, Nikki Green, Janine McCrum, Robyn Lees, Helmie van Melle, Christine Harrison, Rosemary Turle, Jacqui Gale and Karlee Bertola. Nikki Green and Janine McCrum set up the exhibition. Key support has come from Poornarti Aboriginal Tours, Eugene and Errol Eades, Friends of Nowanup, the City of Albany’s Vancouver Art Centre, the Denmark CRC and Gondwana Link. This project has been supported by funding from the Western Australian Government’s State Natural Resource Management Program, supported by Royalties for Regions. Support for the eco art camps in 2016 was provided through Community Arts Network WA.
