WA Bike Month 2023 is the State’s annual celebration of bike riding. Riding is a great way to travel, get some exercise, see more of your community and is environmentally friendly.

Kwoorabup Beeliar is the Noongar name for Denmark River.

River Ride Event Details – 

Date: Sunday 29th October

Start time: 11am meeting at Berridge Park.

We will depart 11.10am and head down towards the Caravan Park and across the bridge down the Heritage Rail Trail to Springdale Beach. There will be a rest stop here for 20-30mins and then we will head back to the bridge and travel the eastside of the river ‘Mokare Heritage Trail’ to The Sanctuary by around 12.30.

The Sanctuary: 12.30 – 2pm Picnic, more live music, prizes and e-bike demo.

End time: 2pm The Sanctuary is a short ride back to starting point Berridge Park.

Bring: your bike, a picnic/ snacks and water bottle. Make sure you wear a helmet and sun protection.

Level: The trail is flat (old rail trail and riverside) and is a pleasant easy 8km ride.

Music: There will be various musical performances along the ride between Berridge Park and The Sanctuary.

Prizes to won! Goodies from Monkey Rock Bike Shop. To enter the draw to win, Dress up your bike for the event and/or Ride more that 10 days in October.

Dress up your bike – spend some time in October sprucing your bike to express you! Some ideas- rainbow tassels, silver lightning bolts, felt flowers, vines, a flag, beaded spokes…

Ride more than 10 days in October – pick up a scorecard from the Denmark Environment Centre or make your own and record the days that you get on your bike in October. Bring your scorecard to the event and we will enter you into the prize draw.

NO BIKE? There’s heaps down at the tip shop for cheap! and most of them only need a little care to get them up to scratch i.e.. tires pumped up, or inner tubes replaces, and a good spray of grease. Or check out Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree for second hand ones. Monkey Rock Bike Shop in Denmark stock a huge range of bikes including electric bikes!

BIKE NEEDS A BIT OF WORK? Head down to Monkey Rock Bike Shop for a service or fix up or if it’s something simple you need a hand with, visit the friendly volunteers at THE REPAIR CAFE at the CRC Sat 7th October 10-midday.

Weather: The event will still go ahead in light rain. If rain is forecast, be sure to bring your raincoat! In the case of heavy storms, you will be notified by email if the event is cancelled.
